SFPD Arrests Suspect from Southern District Homicide 24-126(a)

On October 30, 2024, at approximately 4:07 p.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to a building located on the 100 block of 7th Street regarding a well-being check. 

Upon arrival, officers observed an unresponsive adult male lying on the floor.  Paramedics arrived on scene and declared the victim deceased. The Medical Examiner was notified and conducted their investigation. 

The San Francisco Police Department Homicide Unit was notified of the suspicious death incident and took over the investigation.   

Through the course of the investigation, investigators identified and developed probable cause to arrest 37-year-old male Sergii Sakhno.

On October 31, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers assigned to Mission station arrested Sakhno for an unrelated hot prowl burglary and notified the Homicide Detail of the arrest. 

Sakhno was transported and booked into San Francisco County Jail on the charges of homicide (187(a) PC), burglary (459 PC 1st degree), receiving stolen property (496 PC), and for an active and outstanding out-of-county warrant (459 PC).
