Eric Vintero
Commander Vintero was born and raised in San Francisco. He graduated from George Washington High School, City College of San Francisco, and the University of San Francisco where he earned a bachelor's degree in Public Administration. Vintero Joined the SFPD in April of 1995. During his 29-year career, he has worked at 9 of the 10 district stations, including specialized assignments such as the Specialist Team, SWAT Team, School Resource Officer, and Field Training Officer. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2001, Lieutenant in 2006, Captain in 2012, and Commander in 2022.
Vintero has held Commissioned Officer leadership roles in the Operations Bureau, Special Operations Bureau, Administration Bureau, Airport Bureau, and Investigations Bureau. He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute (SLI), Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP), the Los Angeles Police Department Leadership Program, and the San Francisco Police Department Leadership Development Institute Program. He is married with 5 children. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, working out, raising Koi, and gardening.

Officer of the Month Ceremony
On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 4:30 p.m., the San Francisco Police Department will be joined by Mayor London Breed to recognize six officers who went beyond the call of duty, showing bravery, professionalism, and compassion in their work. The officers will be specially recognized during the Officer of the Month Award Ceremony at City Hall.
