SFPD Vehicle Vandalism Suspect Arrested 19-132
On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at approximately 3:13 PM, a male approached a parked and unoccupied black and white SFPD patrol vehicle at Hyde and Market Streets and broke out both driver side windows and the front windshield with an unknown object. The suspect fled the scene and was last seen walking southbound 8th Street from Market Street. The investigation identified the suspect as Richard Hector Padilla, a 55-year-old male, and distributed a crime alert to San Francisco Police officers.
On Thursday, November 21, 2019, at approximately 2:15 PM, an off-duty officer observed Padilla walk into a bank located at 23rd and Mission Streets. The officer recognized Padilla from the crime alert and requested back up. Additional officers arrived on scene and placed Padilla under arrest without further incident. Padilla was arrested for felony vandalism and was transported and booked at County Jail.
