Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Information and Application

Per the Supreme Court ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, the good cause requirement is no longer required and will not be considered by the San Francisco Police Department.​

SFPD CCW Application Info

  1. Print or download the standard application for a license to carry a concealed weapon. Please note that the standard application can be downloaded on a computer and filled out electronically.
  2. Complete, read, and sign sections 1 through 5, as directed. Do not sign sections 7 and 8.
  3. Sections 7 and 8 must be completed in the presence of a member of the SFPD CCW Unit.
  4. Email the CCW Unit to make an appointment for an in-person drop-off. Please send the email to [email protected].
  5. The CCW Unit will advise you with the required documents and proof of residency documents to bring to your appointment.
