San Francisco Police Make Arrest in 17th/ Mission Street Shooting

San Francisco police arrested two suspects in a shooting that occurred yesterday, February 7, near 2114 Misson Street at 7:30 A.M. Taken into custody shortly afterward were David Salgado,19, and Giovanni Sandoval, 19, both of San Mateo County.

In this incident, the victim of the shooting was on his way to work near the corner of 17th and Mission streets. Although the victim is not believed to be a gang member, the two suspects drove up to the victim, displaying and “throwing” gang signs. It is believed one of the suspects then shot the victim in the back and fled. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Based on the victim’s description of his assailants prior to his transport, San Francisco police officers from Tenderloin Station located and apprehended both suspects. A gun was also recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.

Salgado and Sandoval have been charged by the San Francisco District Attorney’s office with attempted homicide, carrying a concealed weapon, a loaded weapon, and participation in criminal street gang. They remain in custody.
