San Francisco Police Arrest Suspect in Connection with Nightclub Homicide

Tracy Luong

San Francisco Police made an arrest in relation to the beating death of Joe Hernandez in the Temple Night Club on January 9, 2011.

Joe Hernandez was attacked and beaten by an unidentified suspect while inside The Temple night club on

Howard Street
in San Francisco.  Mr. Hernandez later died as a result of the injuries inflicted in that assault. A bystander intervened in an effort to thwart the attack. The bystander was struck in the face and head numerous times by a female suspect who was wielding high-heeled shoes.  Police investigators believe the homicide suspect was part of a larger group which included this female assault suspect.

On Thursday, May 12, 2011 Officers from the SFPD Criminal Investigation Unit arrested Tracy Luong, age 22 of San Jose, California near her residence. Luong was booked into San Francisco County Jail on the charge of aggravated assault (a felony) for the attack on the bystander.

SFPD Homicide Inspectors have released surveillance video taken inside the night club prior to the attack.
