The Police Commission of the City and County of San Francisco met in Room 400, City Hall, #1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, at 5:31 p.m.               

                PRESENT:  Commissioners Turman, Mazzucco, DeJesus, Hirsch

                Commissioner Mazzucco announced that tonight is Commissioner Turman’s last meeting.  Commissioner Mazzucco read a proclamation from the Mayor announcing that May 4, 2018 is L. Julius M. Turman day in the City of San Francisco.

                Commissioner Suzy Loftus addressed the Commission to honor Commissioner Turman.

                Motion by Commissioner Mazzucco, second by Commissioner DeJesus.  Approved 4-0

CONSENT CALENDAR

-              Request of the Chief of Police for approval to retroactively accept a grant of $10,000 from lead agency La Casa de las Madres to go towards costs connected with SFPD’s participation in the Bayview Domestic Violence High Risk Program

                Motion by Commissioner Mazzucco, second by Commissioner DeJesus.  Approved 4-0.

RESOLUTION NO. 18-29

APPROVAL OF THE REQUEST OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO RETROACTIVELY ACCEPT A GRANT OF $10,000.00 FROM LEAD AGENCY LA CASA DE LAS MADRES TO GO TOWARDS COSTS CONNECTED WITH SFPD’S PARTICIPATION IN THE BAYVIEW DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HIGH RISK PROGRAM     

                RESOLVED, that the Police Commission hereby approves the request of the Chief of Police to retroactively accept a grant of $10,000.00 from lead agency La Casa de las Madres to go towards costs connected with SFPD’s participation in the Bayview Domestic Violence High Risk Program.

-              Report on recent Police Department activities, including major events, weekly crime trends, and announcements

                Chief Scott reported on crime trends and special events happening around the city.  The Chief announced that the annual street fair for Cinco de Mayo will be this upcoming weekend.                               

b.            DPA Director’s Report

-              Report on recent DPA activities, and announcements

                Director Henderson updated the Commission on cases opened, sustained, and closed.

                Commissioner Turman announced that tonight is his last day with the Police Commission.  He spoke of how proud he is of the Department, the Chief, and the DPA.

                Commissioner DeJesus thanked Commissioner Turman.

                Commissioner Hirsch thanked Commission Turman and spoke of how much he learned from Commissioner Turman. 

d.            Commission announcements and scheduling of items identified for consideration a future Commission meetings

                Sgt. Kilshaw announced that there will be no meeting next week as there is no quorum due to pending reappointments and appointments.

                Ms. Paulette Brown thanked Commissioner Turman for his time with the Commission and asked about a letter for DPW.  She went on to talk about her son and showed the names of the perpetrators responsible for her son’s homicide.
