On Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11:35PM, San Francisco Police responded to a shooting call at 16th Street and Guerrero. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Lorenzo Jimenez, 24, of Sacramento, lying in the roadway. Mr. Jimenez was suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life threatening injuries. Jimenez died from his injuries on June 9th.
Prior to the shooting, Jimenez had been with several friends in the Double Dutch Bar where he was confronted by 5-10 Hispanic men. After leaving the bar, Jimenez was viciously beaten by this group of men in an unprovoked attack. During the attack, one of the assailants produced a handgun and shot Jimenez, leaving him mortally wounded.
Since this crime took place in a vibrant neighborhood on a Friday evening, police believe there were many people in the area who may have witnessed the incident or may have seen the suspects.
