SFPD Seeks Public's Assistance in Aggravated Assault Investigation

On Sunday, May 20, 2012, around 4:56 pm, a male victim was assaulted in the Sharon Meadows area of Golden Gate Park. The 31year old Victim was with a group of friends who had attended the Bay to Breakers race earlier in the day. The Victim and members of his group were in costume dressed as Troll Dolls and were enjoying the afternoon in Golden Gate Park near Stanyan Street.
Another group of people were near the victims group. This other group consisted of about twelve females and males. Some of the females in the group were wearing purple and one was wearing an orange tutu. The males in the group were wearing 49er Jerseys both white and red.
An argument ensued between some of the individuals from the two groups. The Victim was standing with his friends when a male from the other group came from the side and punched the Victim. The Victim fell striking his head on the ground and lost consciousness. The Victim remains hospitalized with life threatening injuries and has not regained consciousness.
There were numerous people in the area enjoying the park and post race celebrations at the time of the assault. Police are urging anyone that may have witnessed the incident or taken pictures in the area of Sharon Meadows near the Sharon Arts studio and Tennis Courts to contact the Police Department.
