In this incident, officers responded to the 400 block of O’Farrell Street at 6:05 P.M. on a report of an assault . Upon arrival, officers located a male victim, 32, lying on the pavement with major injuries to his head. Police later learned that, after the victim was knocked unconscious and lying defenseless on the pavement, the suspects stomped on his head several times. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he remains with non-life-threatening injuries.
California State Parole agents in the area detained one suspect at the scene shortly after the assault. Through follow-up investigation, including a review of surveillance video, Tenderloin officers and Parole agents identified the second suspect, who was arrested later that evening.
Nelson and Wise have been charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, and battery resulting in serious bodily injury. In addition, Nelson was charged with probation violation, and Wise with parole violation. Both suspects remain in custody.
Booking photographs and surveillance video will not be released at this time due to an on going investigation.
