SFPD Arrest Armed Robbery Suspects 18-034

On January 2nd at approximately 10:50 PM, San Francisco Police responded to the 100 block of Powell Street regarding a robbery of a convenience store. In this incident, a masked and gloved armed suspect entered the store, went directly to the manager’s office, and demanded money from an employee. The suspect fled to a waiting vehicle, driving away with over $21,000 in cash.

The SFPD Night Investigations Unit (NIU) responded out to the scene to conduct an investigation, and were able to secure valuable video surveillance and witness statements. Leads were generated, and investigators assigned to the SFPD Robbery Unit were able to identify three suspects. Based on evidence obtained, arrest warrants for all three suspects were issued.

The investigation revealed that two employees who were present at the time of the robbery were actually involved in the commission of the crime. On January 6, 2018, the following suspects were taken into custody without incident:

Anthony Sherwood, 21 years old, Daly City resident, arrested and booked into San Francisco County Jail on felony charges of grand theft, first degree burglary, conspiracy, embezzlement, and misdemeanor making a false report of a crime.

Lionel De Leon, 26 years old, San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into San Francisco County Jail on felony charges of grand theft, first degree burglary, conspiracy, embezzlement, and misdemeanor making a false report of a crime.

As the third suspect involved was believed to have fled the state, SFPD’s Special Investigations Division became involved. On February 20, 2018, Dezmond Tayeh, 24 years old, San Francisco resident, was taken into custody without incident and booked into San Francisco County Jail on felony charges of grand theft, second degree burglary, and conspiracy.

Due to pending investigatory matters, booking photos are not available at this time.
