SFPD Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect 18-093
On June 24, 2018 at approximately 11:20 PM, San Francisco police officers assigned to Northern Station responded to a sandwich shop on the 2000 block of Van Ness Avenue regarding a robbery. Store employees told the officers that the suspect, who was armed with a handgun, robbed the store and fled the scene.
On June 27, 2018 at approximately 7:45 AM, officers responded to a robbery call at a business on the 1600 block of Vallejo Street. An employee told the officers that the suspect entered the business holding a gun and demanded cash. The suspect pulled the victim’s hooded sweatshirt over her head prior to fleeing with the money.
Using information provided by victims and witnesses (including the description of the suspect’s vehicle), investigators from the SFPD Robbery Detail conducted an investigation that led to the identity of the suspect. A crime bulletin was published and provided to local law enforcement partners. On June 30, 2018 at approximately 12:45 AM, Jarrod Calvert, a 42 year-old Santa Rosa resident, was taken into custody by a Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputy. The deputy saw Calvert drive in to a gas station on the 16000 block of Main Street in Guerneville, recognizing Calvert’s vehicle from the crime bulletin.
Calvert’s maroon Toyota minivan was impounded and Calvert was later booked into the San Francisco County Jail on two counts of robbery. Calvert was released on his own recognizance on July 3, 2018 and was arrested for a new robbery offense in Santa Rosa on July 9th. His booking photo accompanies this news release.
