Subject: ELEVEN MEN INDICTED ON RACKETEERING, EXTORTION AND ARSON CHARGES
Ongoing joint efforts between the San Francisco Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force, the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation resulted in the indictments June 11, 2003 of ten men responsible for a series of racketeering, extortion and arson charges. The arson charges stem from two incidents that occurred on January 24, 2001 at the Tong Palace Restaurant, 933 Clement Street, and the Mayflower Restaurant, 6255 Geary Boulevard.
Taken into federal custody were Mitchell Truong, Tom Tsan, John Tsan, Johnny Ly, Tony Truong, Luis Chung, Michael Tsan, Thai Tuan Hoa, Raymond Khong Chi Ly, Thomas Nguyen and Jim Ng.
The investigation of these crimes involved a long and coordinated process of questioning witnesses and following leads.
