Subject:     Police Urge Victim Of Physical Assault To Contact Police

San Francisco Police are urging a woman who was the victim of a physical assault on Tuesday, December 13, and who did not remain at the scene of the incident, to contact police.  In this incident, which occurred on the 4400 block of

Mission Street
at about 8:00 A.M., witnesses on a Muni bus saw the suspect get off the bus and assault an approximately 50-year-old  Asian woman.  The suspect then fled northbound on Mission.

Two male passengers saw what had happened and got off the bus and followed the suspect to

Silver Ave
Mission Street
where they requested help from security at the Jewish Community Home. Security officers called police, who apprehended the suspect at Congdon and Maynard streets.

In the meantime, a woman in her vehicle who saw only a distraught victim on the street but not the attack, came to her aid by letting her get into her car. The victim got out of the woman’s vehicle at Mission and Trumbull Streets, where the victim’s husband or a relative in a gray Honda picked her up.  The victim has not been seen since.

Police are urging the victim to contact police so that the investigation and prosecution in the case can go forward.  The suspect has been identified as Terry McColum, 28, with no local address.  He remains in custody on assault related charges.
