This morning, Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at approximately 1:20AM, three people, all in their early twenties, were injured in a single vehicle accident at Cesar Chavez St. near Vermont St. The vehicle was traveling northbound Bayshore to eastbound Cesar Chavez when the vehicle vaulted a curb and then struck a center divider. The rear passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, is suffering life-threatening injuries. The driver and other passenger suffered non –life threatening injuries. The driver has since been treated and released to the custody of the Police Department and booked in county jail for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Injury to Another.
The San Francisco Police Department will be holding a press briefing at 11:30AM at the Northeast corner of Cesar Chavez and Vermont St. in regards to last nights incident. Inspector Matt Krimsky of the Night Investigations Unit will be available to discuss the incident and Lt. Al Casciato of the Traffic Divison will also be available at the scene to remind drivers of the hazards of drinking and driving and general traffic safety tips that could save lives.
