The San Francisco Police Department continues to investigate the untimely death of Dr. Daniel Kliman, an Oakland resident, who was found dead at the bottom of an elevator shaft located at 55 New Montgomery Street, San Francisco. Dr. Kliman was at the building on Tuesday, November 25th, possibly because he usually attended an evening language class there. His body was discovered on Monday, December 1st.
The cause of Dr. Kliman's death is presently under investigation by a team of investigators. The lead supervisor overseeing this investigation is Lieutenant James Spillane. Lt. Spillane will coordinate the investigation with the assistance from other inspectors and the departments Crime Lab and its Crime Scene Unit. The investigators have, and will continue to receive assistance and input from the Medical Examiner's office. Additionally, the investigators will be working closely with an investigative team assembled by the California Office of Safety and Health Administration.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that Dr. Kliman sustained massive injuries consistent with a fall, but the department's investigation will be looking into the cause of the fall. Any persons with knowledge of Dr. Kliman's activities or his whereabouts on the day of his death, or in the days immediately preceding this tragedy, are strongly encouraged to contact Lieutenant Spillane at (415) 553-1975.
