San Francisco Police arrested nine suspects, three of them juveniles, in nine robberies that occurred between Monday, November 17, and Thursday, November 20, throughout San Francisco.
In one incident, on November 19 at about 3:00 P.M., an off-duty San Francisco police officer, while driving to work, saw a man holding a laptop computer running on Market, with another man chasing him. The officer, believing that a robbery had occurred, got out of his car just as the suspect was just about to strike the victim, who was demanding his laptop back, with a rock the suspect had been carrying. The officer immediately intervened and arrested Jason Hill, 30, no local address. Hill was charged with robbery.
In another incident, on November 17 at approximately 3:50 P.M., police arrested Jordan Niko, 19, of San Francisco, after he allegedly stole the wallet of a 15-year-old male riding Muni and then pushed him off the bus at 24th and Mission streets. The victim flagged down a Patrol Special Officer, who called police. The Patrol Special officer and the SFPD officers boarded the bus and took the suspect into custody.
Other robberies over this four-day period included another incident on November 17 in which police arrested a 13-year-old juvenile who simulated a firearm in a street robbery at North Point and Mason. On November 18, police arrested Rodney Palmer, 49, no local address after a street robbery at 6th and Jessie streets at 8:55 A.M. Later that morning, at 8:40 A.M., police arrested Eddie Media, 49, in a robbery that occurred on the 100 block of Hyde Street. That evening, at 5:48 P.M., police arrested a 17-year-old San Francisco juvenile who committed a purse snatch at Van Ness and Geary. At approximately 8:30 P.M. that night police arrested a 17-year-old San Leandro male in a robbery of a Seattle woman that occurred at 1st and Mission streets.
The remaining two robberies included the arrest of a 17-year-old suspect in a home invasion robbery on November 18 on the 1500 block of La Salle Avenue shortly after 9:00 P.M., and the arrest on November 20 of Marcus Duncan, 19, of San Francisco after a robbery that occurred on the 100 block of Dakota Street at 9:30 A.M..
These arrests follow closely on another series of arrests on October 31 through November 2 in which police arrested 19 suspects in seven robbery incidents and one attempted robbery (Press Release 08-109).
