San Francisco police arrested a man and a woman today, October 20, in a dog mauling attack that occurred at Post and Baker streets on October 5 in which a woman was severely injured by attacking dogs. Investigations conducted by inspectors from the General Work Section, working in conjunction with the city’s Animal Care and Control Unit, led to arrest warrants issued by the District Attorney’s Office.
Cortes Smith, 52, and Antoinette Williams, 46, both of San Francisco, were booked on three Penal Code felony charges: 399(b), having custody or control of a mischievous dog; 399.5, owner failure to exercise ordinary care with trained attack dog that bites a human being; and 597(b), animal fights. Smith and Williams remain in custody. Bail has been set at $75,000.
