Subject: San Francisco Police Department Encourages Citizens To Contact Police If Illegal Marijuana Cultavation Is Suspected
San Francisco police are encouraging anyone who suspects that illegal marijuana cultivation is occurring in a residence to contact police.
Illegal marijuana cultivation constitutes a major public safety hazard, capable of causing fires and resulting injuries. Both members of the public and firefighters who respond to fires caused by these operations are endangered.
Illegal marijuana cultivation is also associated with other crimes, such as possession of firearms and public utility theft. Illegal marijuana cultivation also contributes to neighborhood blight because properties are not maintained and non-residents come and go frequently at all hours.
Citizens who wish to remain anonymous may call the Confidential Tip Line, 4156-575-4444, or use Text-a-Tip, Tip 411.
