A San Francisco Police officer arrested two men Saturday, September 16, in one of the largest confiscations of illegally produced CDs, DVDs and MP3s in San Francisco history. At about 7:20 A.M., Officer Constantine Zachos of Mission Station observed a 1994 Ford Econoline parked illegally on the sidewalk in front of a residence with an open garage door on the 100 block of Adair St. The officer also noticed two men loading boxes from the garage into the van.
Looking into the van, the officer saw boxes containing DVDs, noticing that some were of movies still in theatrical release. Further investigation revealed more pirated entertainment media, for a total of 2,154 CDs, 367 DVDs and 252 MP3s. All of the merchandise was intended for sale.
Taken into custody were Jose Luis Flores, 46, and Jose Flores, 23, who live at that location. They were charged with counterfeiting, failure to disclose origin of recording or audiovisual work, and conspiracy.
