A five-member bicycling team of police officers from the United Kingdom and an editor of the London Daily Mail will begin a fund-raising bicycle tour starting on the southeast side of the Golden Gate Bridge on Thursday, September 13, at 8:00 A.M. to continue on an 11-day,
700-mile tour to San Diego. The officers have obtained sponsors in their goal to raise 50,000 pounds for two British charities, COPS, Care of Police Officers, which helps the families of police officers killed in the line of duty, and the Prince's Trust, a youth support organization.
Bicycle-riding officers from the San Francisco Police Department will accompany the British officers across the bridge to the San Francisco side.
There is public parking on the northwest side of the bridge at the Marin Headlands.
