The Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice has authorized two rewards of $10,000 each for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the hit and run deaths of victims in two incidents.
In the first incident, a visiting member of the Canadian Navy was struck and killed by a hit and run driver Saturday, August 18, at the intersection of The Embarcadero and Howard Street at approximately 1:50 A.M. The suspect vehicle is a silver or gray Mercedes Benz. It is believed the collision caused front end and windshield damage.
The second incident occurred on Sunday, August 19, mid-block on Sanchez Street just north of Market Street at approximately 1:45 A.M. While traveling at a high rate of speed, the driver of the vehicle, possibly a Honda, struck the victim, a male, 77, then fled north on Sanchez. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
