San Francisco officers, along with other law enforcement agencies, will participate in the Law Enforcement Motorcycle Torch Ride to benefit Special Olympics on Sunday, August 14. Nearly 300 participants will gather at the Dudley Perkins motorcycle dealership at 123 Van Ness Avenue at 9:30 A.M.
The contingent will leave the dealership at about 10:30 A.M., and proceed past SBC Park to southbound Highway 280 to San Mateo County, taking the Pacific Coast Highway back to San Francisco and proceed over the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin County. The participants will then cross over the San Rafael-Richmond Bridge to Treasure Island, arriving between 12:30 and 1:00 P.M. There will be a barbeque and raffle on the Great Lawn on the west side of Treasure Island to conclude at about 3:00 P.M. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Special Olympics.
The Motorcycle Torch Ride concludes the SFPD’s participation in this year’s Special Olympics, which included the Torch Run and Tip-a-Cop events earlier this year.
