ROBBERY SUSPECTS ARRESTED BY MISSION STATION OFFICERS
San Francisco Police Department, Mission Station uniformed and plain clothed officers arrested four suspects connected to two separate robbery incidents on Wednesday, August 11, 2010.
Two robberies occurred in the Mission District at approximately 1:50 am this morning. One on the 1400 block of Stevenson Street, and the second very soon after, on the 300 block of Valencia Street.
The first victim was walking on Stevenson, when he was approached by four suspects, who demanded his property. The suspects grabbed him, punched him in the face and robbed him. The suspects fled the immediate area and ran north bound on Stevenson. The victim was able to call the police and provide a description of all four suspects. Officers responded to that area, and assisted the first victim. The suspects took a wallet with currency and identification as well as keys from the victim’s pocket.
While responding to the initial call for service, a marked police unit was waved down by a second victim who was robbed on the 300 block of Valencia Street. That victim was walking in the area, when he was approached by four suspects who surrounded him and robbed him of his wallet, which contained currency and identification. They also took his cell phone and left the area north bound on Valencia St. The officers realized that they had two separate robbery victims and the descriptions matched the same four suspects.
Officers saturated the area and two suspects were detained on the 100 block of Clinton Park. Two additional suspects were detained on the 100 block of Guerrero Street. Suspects McCullen and Olmos tried to hide behind parked cars, when officers drove down Clinton Park, but they were spotted and detained. These suspects matched the descriptions given by the first victim. The suspects were positively identified by both victims and taken into custody before 2:36am this morning. Two separate police reports were taken, and the suspects were listed in each report. All four suspects were seen together at approximately 1:30am by plain clothed officers at 16th and Valencia.
All of the stolen items in the Valencia Street robbery were recovered on McCullen. Currency in the amount consistent with what was stolen in the Stevenson robbery was also recovered, but the wallet and keys were not found.
