The First Annual Isaac Espinoza Memorial Softball Tournament will be held this weekend, starting Friday evening, August 6, at 6:15 P.M. at three adjacent playing fields, Belle Air School field, Lion’s field and San Bruno City Park field on Third Avenue in San Bruno. The 14 tournament teams will continue to compete in this double elimination tournament on Saturday, August 7, from approximately 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., and on Sunday, August 8, starting at 8:00 A.M. until the early afternoon. Officer Espinoza’s sister, Regina, will throw out the first pitch at this evening’s 6:15 game.
Participators in the tournament include members of the SFPD, the Sheriff’s Office, friends of the Espinoza family and corporate sponsors.
The tournament will also include an auction and raffle and, on Sunday, a barbecue. All proceeds raised from the tournament will go to the Espinoza family fund. Officer Espinoza was killed in the line of duty by a gunman earlier this year, on April 10.
Directions from San Francisco: Take Highway 101 South to the San Bruno Avenue Exit; turn right on San Bruno Avenue to Third Avenue; turn left Third Avenue to the end of the block, where the playing fields are located.
