Subject: SFPD Arrest Suspect In "Good Old Boy Bandit" Series
San Francisco police today arrested a man wanted in a series of San Francisco robberies since July 23. Taken into custody was Brian Mark Joyce, 30, of Hillsboro, Alabama. Joyce was taken into custody at the Pontiac Hotel, 509 6th Street. He was taken into custody without incident with participation from the Robbery Detail, Northern Station Street Crimes Unit, and Park Station.
Joyce has been charged with seven counts of armed robbery, eight counts of burglary, one count of attempted robbery, and six counts of false imprisonment.
Joyce targeted small businesses occupied by a lone female proprietor. Joyce would brandish a knife and order the women to give him the money, and then force them to the floor behind the cash register while he made his escape.
The robberies occurred at these locations: 1764 Haight Street, 1465 Haight street, 2029 Fillmore Street, 1510 Haight Street, 1906 Fillmore street, 1580 Haight street, 2021 Fillmore Street, and 3600 16th Street.
Inspector Dan Gardner of the Robbery Detail will be available for interviews in Room 454 of the Hall of Justice until this evening.
