The San Francisco Police Department and the Safety Network Program (a member of the Mayor’s Neighborhood Crime Prevention Program) will again this year sponsor National Night Out events on Tuesday, August 2 in four SFPD districts with officers from the district stations participating. National Night Out: America’s Night Out Against Crime is held annually on the first Tuesday of August across the country to promote neighborhood involvement to help stem crime through strengthening police-community relations and encouraging neighborhood camaraderie by hosting a number of neighborhood events. The stations participating are:
Park District. Boys & Girls Club, 1950 Page Street at Stanyan. BBQ, and games, including basketball with Park Station police officers. Contact person: Kyle Pederson, 571-0338.
Richmond District. Anza mini-park behind Richmond Station, 7th Avenue Mini-Park between Geary and Anza, 6:00-8:00 P.M. Barbeque and potluck. Campaign Kids, SF SAFE representatives. Police motorcycle photo ops for kids. Contact person: Officer Jill Connolly, Richmond Station, 666-8000.
Northern District. Kick-off ceremony at Fillmore and O’Farrell streets at 6:00 P.M., followed by Safety Walk. Refreshments and entertainment by SGI Taiko Drums and chorus. Peace Pledge ceremony at 8:00 P.M. Contact persons: Judy Edmond, 606-1362 or Richard Johnson, 252-9644.
