During the stop, the driver opened the glove box and an illegal dagger fell out. Officers then did an inventory search and located a loaded assault weapon in the trunk. The driver, a 17-year-old male, was booked on reckless driving and gun possession charges. The other occupants, all male juveniles from San Francisco, were detained and released.
In the second incident, which occurred on July 30 on the 1000 block of Fitzgerald Avenue at9:09 A.M., police searched a parked 1998 Buick Park Avenue after the officer recognized a male sitting on the passenger seat as being on active felony probation. Also on July 30, police responded to a call of shots fired at Osceola Lane and La Salle Avenue at 6:10 P.M. and stopped a 1993 Dodge van for speeding in the area where the shots were reported heard. The van's two male occupants told the officers that two men shot at them while they were driving and gave the officers a description. Police located the two individuals on the 1200 block of Oakdale Avenue. Police conducted an investigation and arrested Gerardo Canon, 18, of San Francisco, and a male juvenile 17, also of San Francisco. They were charged with carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and conspiracy.
During the arrest, police recovered a handgun. In further investigation, police also located a gun in the Dodge van and arrested one occupant, Robert Ramey, 20, of San Leandro, for gun possession. Canon, Ramey and the juvenile also had gang enhancement charges.
Later the same day, at 9:45 P.M., police responded to a call of shots fired at Brookdale Avenue and Santos Street. Police arrested two male juveniles, both 17 and San Francisco residents, and seized two handguns. They also recovered an assault weapon that had been discarded in a trash can nearby.
