Investigators from the San Francisco Police Department Special Investigations Division have arrested a suspect in connection with an explosive device incident that occurred on the evening of July 4 in Mission district Dolores Park area. Taken into custody today, Wednesday, July 11, was a San Francisco juvenile, 17. The suspect has been charged with four counts of discharging dangerous fireworks and one count of discharging fireworks, causing property damage in and around Dolores Park.
This investigation originated in connection with the maiming of a teenage girl in Dolores Park when an explosive device detonated near her hand, causing significant injury. While the suspect remains a person of interest, there is insufficient evidence at this time to charge him with that particular crime. Anyone with information regarding the maiming of the victim is encouraged to contact the Special Investigations Division at 553-1133.
