San Francisco police have released a composite sketch of a person of interest possibly involved in a purse snatch robbery of a 63-year-old San Francisco woman on April 10 in front of 680 Folsom Street at approximately 5:35 P.M. The victim, Helen Canafax, a popular and generous woman who often gave money to the homeless, was knocked to the pavement when the suspect grabbed her purse. She sustained serious injuries from her fall, contributing to her death on May 2.
Following the attack, the suspect fled across the street and through the plaza at 201-3rd Street. The suspect is described as a black male, 35-40 years old, 180 lbs. He was wearing a gray beanie-style cap, a red or black sweatshirt, and dark-colored pants.
The person of interest is known to associate with a companion, whose sketch is presented alongside that of the person of interest.
