On Sunday, June 6, 2004, San Francisco police arrested a man who had maintained Internet contact with whom he thought was a 13-year-old girl in order to arrange a personal meeting for sexual purposes. Taken into custody was Timothy Tureson, 46, a middle/high school maintenance worker from Lee Vining (Mono County), California.
An undercover police officer from the SFPD Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit, posing as a 13-year-old San Francisco girl, conducted an on-line communication with Tureson through e-mails and instant messages. Tureson suggested that the victim meet with him personally at a specific location to initiate a sexual liaison. Instead of meeting with a young girl, he was met by San Francisco police investigators. He was arrested for attempting a lewd act with a child under the age of 14.
