San Francisco Police have arrested the suspect in the April 27, 2006 shooting on the 900 block of Ellsworth Street in which a thirteen-year-old girl was shot. Police identified the suspect as Bennie Powell, 21, through an investigation and from a photo obtained from a surveillance camera at that location at the time of the shooting. Police arrested Powell and two others last night, June 6, at San Francisco Airport, in what appeared to be a vehicle theft attempt and for security breach of airport property.
The identification of Powell through surveillance camera footage demonstrates the importance of the cameras. Footage showing Powell is available to the media.
