The contest was the effort of the San Francisco Police Department, in conjunction with the Project SAFE (Safety Awareness for Everyone) Neighborhood Program, and the Northern District of California U. S. Attorney’s Office. The goal of Project SAFE is to create safer neighborhoods, particularly in the Bayview, Ingleside and Northern police districts, by reducing gun violence and to aggressively prosecute those who commit crimes with firearms.
Some of the winning posters will be displayed throughout the city to help stem gun violence.
