Subject:     Police Arrest Two Men In Northern Police District Robbery Spree

On May 28, San Francisco police arrested two men wanted in a series of armed robberies during May in the Park and Northern police districts.  Taken into custody were Darryl Jones, 37, of San Francisco, and Melvin Danridge, 20, of Pacifica.  Both have been charged with numerous felonies and remain in custody.

The pair committed a robbery the evening of May 26 at Hayes and Broderick streets and two more robberies the night of May 28, one on the unit block of

Waller Street
and one at Sacramento and Gough streets.  Both men are suspected of eight additional robberies during May.  Dubbed the Tec Nine robberies because the suspects carried this style assault weapon, they were also masked.  None of the victims were injured in any of the robberies except for one victim who was struck in the face with the butt of the gun.

Following the broadcast of the robberies on May 28, Officers Donald Kallsen and Curtis Nakano of Park Police Station observed the suspect vehicle.  They conducted a traffic stop and took the two suspects into custody.  The officers recovered a 9mm assault weapon and two masks from the vehicle.

The keen observation of these officers, joined with the effective communication between the Investigation Division and Patrol forces, resulted in the arrest of two armed and dangerous suspects.  The Robbery Section is continuing in its investigation into these and possibly related cases.  For more information, please contact:
