May 28, 2008
This week, the California Highway Patrol, in partnership with the San Francisco Police Department, will conduct Operation Impact during the evening hours. On Wednesday, May 28, the operation will concentrate on the Taraval District; on Thursday, May 29, the focus will be on the Southern District; and on Saturday, May 31, the area of enforcement will be in the Northern District.
Operation Impact will deploy a significant visual police presence to engage in various traffic enforcement operations, thereby increasing the safety of residents in the community. This collaborative effort between the CHP and the SFPD has been proven effective in curtailing what are often precursors to violence, including reckless driving, DUI, weapons possession, loitering, and narcotics use and sales.
