San Francisco Police Department Increases Police Presence In Western Addition Housing Development Areas

In response to the violence in the Western Addition, particularly the fatal shooting that occurred yesterday, May 24, at Laguna and Eddy streets, the San Francisco Police Department will greatly increase the deployment of foot patrol officers in the Plaza East Housing Development and in Housing Authority developments throughout the Western Addition. The deployment will also include a consistent police presence at the location of yesterday's homicide.

In yesterday's incident, the suspect opened fire at the victim, a 19-year-old male. The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he expired. After the shooting, the suspect ran northbound on Laguna. The suspect is described as a black male, 15-20 years old, 5' 6 , 150 lbs. He was wearing a black sweatshirt hood, baggy blue jeans and black tennis shoes.

Witnesses are crucial in the investigation of any homicide incident.
