The suspect in an early morning shooting on Saturday, May 19, was arraigned in Superior Court today, May 22. Francisco Valle, 50, of San Francisco, was charged with two counts of attempted homicide and one count of burglary.
In this shooting incident, two officers responded to a call of a hot prowl burglary on the 2000 block of Great Highway shortly after 1:00 A.M. A description of the suspect had been broadcast, and the officers saw a man matching the description in the area. When officers got out of their patrol vehicle to confront the suspect, he opened fire on the uniformed officers, striking their police car numerous times but missing the officers. When one of the officers returned fire, the suspect fled. Officers found him a short while later hiding in the bushes on Lower Great Highway and Santiago Street, where he was arrested.
Valle remains in custody on a $1 million warrant.
