Wilfredo Gonzalez, 38, a San Francisco Police Inspector, was arrested today, May 14, on sexual assault charges stemming from an incident that occurred in Vacaville, Ca. in July of 2002. The Vacaville Police Department conducted an investigation which resulted in a warrant being issued for Gonzalez’ arrest. The San Francisco Police Department only became aware of this incident recently.
Gonzalez was arrested this morning at approximately 8 a.m. at his residence in Vacaville. Gonzalez is being charged with 261(a)(3) PC (Rape, by use of any intoxicating or anesthetic substance, or any controlled substance), and 289(e) PC (Rape, by use of any intoxicating or anesthetic substance, or any controlled substance, using a foreign object). Bail has been set at $25,000.00.
The Vacaville Police Department is conducting a criminal investigation in this case. The San Francisco Police Department is conducting an internal investigation. Gonzalez was immediately suspended without pay today from his duties by the San Francisco Police Department. Gonzalez has been a member of the San Francisco Police Department since May of 1994. He holds the rank of Inspector and was assigned to the Night Investigations Unit.
