San Francisco police arrested a suspect in an early morning financial district attempted street robbery May 10. Taken into custody was Jonathan Dyson, 28, of San Francisco. A second suspect, a 30-year-old San Francisco man, was detained.
In this incident, the victim, a 30-year-old San Francisco man, had just gotten off work and was walking on Montgomery Street toward California Street at approximately 12:45 A.M. when he noticed two men walking a short distance in front of him. The two men then stopped and the victim walked past them. One of the suspects then stepped in front of him and pointed a gun at him, demanding his property. Panicking, the victim ran across the street and the two suspects continued walking south on Montgomery.
The victim called police who met with him at Montgomery and Sacramento streets. A short while later, police saw two men matching the description that the victim had provided walking on Sansome and Sutter streets near Market Street. A handgun was recovered. The victim later identified the two suspects and identified Dyson as the suspect who had pointed the gun at him.
Dyson was charged with attempted robbery, threatening with a weapon, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a concealed firearm.
