A 15-year veteran of the San Francisco Police Department collapsed at a Canine Unit training exercise on
Sergeant Tsujimoto, 41, had been the officer-in-charge of the Tactical Company Canine Unit since April 1999. Under his leadership the unit gained national recognition, winning many gold medals in canine unit competitions. Sergeant Tsujimoto was a member of the 169th Recruit Class. During his career, he served with distinction at
“The suddenness of the death of Sergeant Tsujimoto has been a great blow to the Police Department,” said Police Chief Heather Fong. “Sergeant Tsujimoto made the Tactical Canine Unit a showpiece for the Department, and brought distinction to his assignments during his police career. His passing has immeasurably saddened all of us.”
