The San Francisco Police Department's Gang Task Force have arrested the suspect in a brazen daylight shooting incident that occurred on January 11, 2007 on the 1500 block of Broadway at 10:30 A. M. Taken into custody on a one million dollar arrest warrant in San Mateo yesterday morning, April 24, at about 9:30 was Justin Wilson, 23, of San Francisco. The San Mateo Sheriff's Office assisted the SFPD in the arrest.
In this incident, the drivers of two vehicles pursued each other from the Embarcadero to Broadway, where the pursued vehicle, a 2001 Honda, collided with a 2002 Acura uninvolved in the pursuit, inflicting non-life threatening injuries on the driver, a 51-year-old Chinese male. At the crash scene, Wilson opened fire from his vehicle, a 2007 Ford Escape, into the Honda, striking the passenger, a male, 21. The driver of the Honda, a 21-year-old woman, sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash but was not struck by gunfire. After shooting the passenger, Wilson fled in his vehicle. The passenger who was shot suffered non-life threatening injuries. The case was assigned to the Gang Task Force because the shooting involved rival Ingleside gangs.
The subsequent investigation led to Wilson as the shooting suspect. He was charged with attempted murder, assault with a firearm, and reckless endangerment, and remains in custody.
