San Francisco Police Arrest Serial Bank Robbery Suspect

San Francisco police arrested the suspect in a series of three bank robberies since March 25, 2010. Taken into custody on April 15 was Earl Lee Williams, 38, no local address. Police were conducting surveillance operations in the Central district where the robberies had been occurring. Based on surveillance photos obtained from the robberies, police saw Williams walking on Washington Street near Kearny, and arrested him without incident.

In addition to the March 25 robbery, which occurred at First Bank, 550 Montgomery Street, Williams is the suspect in the March 29 robbery of the East West Bank, 1066 Grant Avenue, and the Chase Bank, 1040 Grant Avenue, on April 6. Williams used a robbery note in all three incidents.

There were warrants for Williams’ arrest issued by both the U. S. Marshal and the F.B.I.

Williams was charged with multiple counts of bank robbery and violation of federal parole for a series of 2004 bank robberies.
