San Francisco police arrested the suspect in a string of hot prowl burglaries that targeted the West Portal, St. Francis Wood, and Forest Hill neighborhoods. Taken into custody Sunday, April 20, was Terry Darnell Parker, 49, of San Francisco.
Parker is the suspect in ten hot prowl burglaries over the past week in these areas. In all the incidents, the suspect entered through an unlocked door or window, or pried the screen off a window. Once inside, the suspect searched primarily for smaller electronic items, such as laptop computers, i-Phones, and digital cameras.
In response to the burglary series, Taraval Police Station saturated the area with plain clothes officers in a coordinated effort to respond quickly in the event of a reported hot prowl burglary. The effort paid off, when officers responded to the latest burglary Sunday, April 20, at approximately 1:45 A.M. on the unit block of Forest Side Avenue. The officers coordinated with another group of officers near the West Portal Muni tunnel, where the suspect was located inside a bus shelter within minutes from the time of the burglary. Items stolen from the Forest Side residence were found in a bag in his possession.
Parker has been charged with multiple counts of first-degree burglary, receiving stolen property, and parole violation for a prior burglary conviction.
