The funeral service for slain Officer Isaac Espinoza will be held on Friday, April 16, at Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Geary Boulevard at Gough Street, at 9:30 A.M. Traffic will be restricted on the streets immediately surrounding the cathedral. Starting at 8:00 A.M., eastbound Geary will be closed from Webster to Franklin streets, and westbound Geary from Webster to Franklin streets will be reduced to two lanes. Ellis Street will be closed between Gough and Laguna streets. Muni will continue to run in a reserved transit lane both eastbound and westbound during the service. Additionally, after the service, at about 12 noon, Gough Street at Post Street will be closed for the procession to Holy Cross Cemetery.
There will be reserved parking for credentialed media vehicles on the east side of Gough Street between Geary and Ellis. Out of respect to the Espinoza family, there will be no video equipment or cameras allowed inside the cathedral during the service.
The public is advised that the funeral service will have a significant effect on traffic in the vicinity of the area of Saint Mary’s and along the route to the cemetery and to plan accordingly.
