The San Francisco Police Department will be retiring three horses from the Mounted Unit on Tuesday, April 10 at the Police Stables, Golden Gate Park, at 11:00 A.M. The ceremony will also honor the arrival of two new horses, an eight-year-old American quarter horse sorrel gelding named Rusty, and Seattle, an eight-year-old chestnut quarter-horse. They will both be sworn in and begin their police careers.
The horses retiring are:
Ernie, a 25-year-old sorrel American quarter horse gelding;
The Golden Gate Park Police Stables are located off John F. Kennedy Drive at 36th Avenue.
