Subject: SAN FRANCISCO POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN COFFEE AND JUICE ESTABLISHMENT ROBBERY SERIES
San Francisco police arrested a suspect in a series of coffee and beverage establishment robberies. Taken into custody Sunday, March 14, was Jacob Schildgen, 42, of San Francisco. He was arrested after robbing a coffee establishment in the downtown district earlier that day at 4:10 P.M. Based on a vehicle description that was used in the robberies, police located the vehicle in the Mission District and searched the residential hotels in that area. Police located Schildgen in a residential hotel on the 2000 block of Mission Street. He was taken into custody without incident.
Schildgen is the suspect in a robbery of another coffee establishment in the Divisadero Street corridor that occurred on Thursday, March 11 shortly after 12 noon. Schildgen is also the suspect in two other robberies and one attempted robbery that occurred the following day, on Friday, March 12, all within a half-hour of each other. At 4:40 P.M., the suspect robbed coffee establishments first in the Castro, then in the Mission, the first at 4:40 P.M. and the second at
5:00 P.M. The suspect attempted to rob a juice establishment in the Upper Market at 5:01 P.M., but left when the employee said he did not have a key to the register. The suspect implied he had a gun in all of these incidents.
Schildgen is the suspect in two other robberies of the same downtown coffee establishment that was robbed on March 14, on March 8 shortly after 8:00 A.M., and on February 22 shortly after 6:00 P.M., making for a total of seven robberies since February 22.
Schildgen has been charged with numerous counts of robbery and remains in custody.
