San Francisco Police are searching for the suspect in a homicide that occurred yesterday, Sunday, March 13, on the unit block of Dedman Court at about 10:40 P.M. In that incident, the suspect, Gregory James West Jr., 23, who has lived in Modesto, San Francisco and East Palo Alto, was attempting to see his two-year-old daughter, who was staying with the suspect’s stepmother. The stepmother, Yolanda West, 43, would not let him in the residence because a domestic violence-related restraining order was in effect. West then shot her. She died later at San Francisco General Hospital.
San Francisco Police have issued an arrest warrant for West. In addition, there is a $10,000 arrest warrant issued by Redwood City Police for domestic violence.
Persons with information are urged to contact the San Francisco Homicide Section at 553-1145, or the Confidential Tip Line, 415-575-4444. Persons in police jurisdictions other than San Francisco who may have information about West are urged to call 9-1-1.
A photo of West, who is considered armed and dangerous, is available on the SFPD Web site, sfgov.org/police under “Wanted Persons.”
