San Francisco Police have arrested two juvenile suspects in a robbery that occurred yesterday, Wednesday, March 12 on Chenery and Surrey streets in the Glen Park neighborhood at about 8:45 P.M. Taken into custody were two males, 17 and 16, both of San Francisco.
In this incident, the two suspects confronted a 61-year-old man who was walking on Chenery. The 17-year-old suspect brandished a gun and stole the victim's shoulder bag and wallet before fleeing on foot.
Following the incident, police sent units, including undercover units, in the area to try to locate the suspects. One female plain clothes officer was standing on the corner of Eugenia Avenue and Wool Street about fifteen minutes after the robbery when two juveniles matching the description of the suspects in the robbery that had just occurred approached her, asking her for information about a bus line. A second undercover officer was standing across the street and, sensing possible trouble, walked over to his partner officer. A third undercover officer was also at the scene.
At the approach of the officer from across the street, the 17-year-old suspect fled. While the
16-year-old suspect was detained on Eugenia, the 17-year-old ran off and a foot pursuit began, joined by additional officers. The suspect was apprehended a few blocks later in Holly Park. Police recovered a gun and the victim's property.
Both suspects have been charged with one count of robbery each. The 17-year-old suspect was also charged with possession of a loaded firearm. The suspects remain in custody.
