Early this morning, San Francisco police took into custody a 17-year-old juvenile who was involved in two shootings, one on February 22 and one on February 23. In the February 23 incident, the suspect shot a man several times in his own home in Hunters Point after the suspect broke into his house in the middle of the night. The victim, a 42 year-old Samoan male, and his wife were awakened at about 2:00 A.M. by the sound of the forcing of their rear door. The victim got up and confronted the suspect, who shot him in the torso, shoulder and leg before escaping. The victim was treated for his injuries and released.
Police believe that this incident is connected with the February 22 incident, in which five persons in a vehicle were shot at in the Hunters Point area. In the car were a pregnant woman and a two-year-old child. One occupant in the vehicle suffered a minor injury and was treated and released.
The suspect in both of these incidents has been charged with six counts of attempted murder, with additional charges pending.
The arrest was the culmination of a collaborative effort between SFPD command staff, Bayview Police Station officers, the San Francisco Housing Authority and the Office of the District Attorney.
