The San Francisco Police Department Traffic Division will join the Bicycle Coalition, the Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA) and the Department of Public Health (DPH) in a bicycle safety awareness outreach kickoff event on Wednesday, February 28, at Octavia and Market streets, from 7:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M.
The purpose of the event is to kick off a year-long Bicycle Safety Education and Enforcement Campaign promoting both motorist and bicycle safety by distributing safety flyers and talking to motorists and bicyclists about safety issues, especially in the Market-Octavia corridor. Traffic officers will also take enforcement action as necessary, particularly regarding illegal turns and bicycle-only lane violations.
